Surviving example of Trouvé's motor

In 1880, Trouvé improved the efficiency of an electric motor developed by Siemens in Germany. He then adapted this motor to invent the world’s first electric vehicle, electric boat, model electric airship, electric sewing machine, etc.

Only four of these motors are known to have survived, one of which is on show at EDF’s Electropolis museum in Mulhouse, while the other three are in the museum stores of Parisian high schools. The Electropolis motor was acquired in 1992 from an antiques dealer at the well-known flea market of Saint-Ouen in the Northern suburbs of Paris.
