Life-saving oxygen!

With British ESA astronaut Tim Peake, wearing an enclosed spacesuit during his voyage and joining his colleagues for six months in the enclosed International Space Station, think back to the year 1875 when Gustave Trouvé, concerned with the mortal dangers of high altitude ballooning, proposed an oxygen-fed rubber suit for aeronauts and an oxygen-fed cabin for teams of aeronauts.

Tim’s helmet is also fitted with frontal headlamps (Trouvé 1883) .

And let us not forget Trouvé’s suggestion to use a combination of hydrogen and oxygen for the full-scale version of his aluminium flying machine of 1890 - he saw it all....
