Hidden Troves

We know there are Trouvé instruments lurking in the corner of museums. Recently, Damien Kuntz of Electropolis visited EDF’s 1,100 square meter four-story Museum of Electricity, Gas and Lighting in Paris. Like a needle in a haystack was this motor with the words “Invenit et Fecit Gustave Trouvé (Latin= Invented and made by Gustave Trouvé).

One of his earliest inventions, this miniature double movement, electro-spherical motor, spinning at 12 to 15 revolutions per minute, was made by our 28-year-old inventor for the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1867 and for which he was awarded a distinction.

Well done Damien! Good hunting to those reading this!
