Roots

Gilbert Jamois who is as passionate about the life and works of Gustave Trouvé as Kevin Desmond, recently used a genealogical website to research Trouvé’s ancestors.

While Trouvé’s great-grandfather, grandfather and father had all been butchers serving meat to the folks in La Haye...

.... before that, in the 17th Century, his ancestors had been saddle-makers in Châtelleraut, 24 km south-east of Gustave’s birth town.

As for the 16th century and before, this is still to be discovered.

In short, the Trouvé family hardly moved for at least three centuries.

Therefore for our inventor to go and live and work in Paris was a major step.
